Green Bins
Green bins are collected on every second Monday.
The following materials are suitable for disposal in a green bin:
Yes please:
- Grass cuttings
- Leaves, prunings and clippings
- Untreated wood and bark
- Cardboard (ie brown cardboard boxes, toilet rolls, egg boxes and food packaging such as cereal boxes)
- Catalogues, shredded paper and Yellow Pages
- Brown paper
- Rabbit/ guinea pig waste (ie straw, hay and newspaper)
- Windfall fruit
- Cooked food
- Meat and bones
- Vegetables and fruit peelings
- Coffee filters and tea bags
- Stale bread
No thanks:
- Biodegradable bags (eg corn starch)
- Pernicious weeds (eg Japanese knotweed, bindweed)
- Any type of plastic (inc. bags/ sacks, magazine wrappers)
- Polystyrene
- Fruit juice cartons (with foiled lining)
- Painted wood
- Oil of any type
- Carpets/ rugs
- Cat litter
- Turf and soil (due to its weight
- Disposable nappies
